Goal To reduce perinatal transmission among Medicaid-eligible women.
Objectives
  1. Develop and implement a campaign to inform HIV positive women in selected pilot areas about the benefits of AZT in FY95.
  2. Expand pilot project to one State in all regions in FY 96.
  3. Expand project to include all States in FY 97
Action Steps

Develop, obtain, and distribute brochures and other materials describing current guidelines for the use of AZT during pregnancy for preventing perinatal transmission, and Medicaid eligibility and coverage to Medicaid eligible women.

Descriptions

Establish a consumer-oriented educational campaign in key States with high HIV prevalence rates among women.
