Technology for Education and Training
Information technology is helping most businesses become more productive and better able to serve the needs of individual customers. But this revolution has largely bypassed the nation's schools. Developed in close cooperation with businesses and educators, this interagency project will provide the foundation for individualized instruction for students of all ages, and will forge new connections between schools, homes, local businesses and national and international data resources. FY96 priorities include:

  • demonstrations of innovative technology
  • new models for evaluating learning productivity
  • cost-shared development of high-quality, affordable learning tools and environments
  • basic research on learning and understanding

(Interagency funding $335M in FY96)
