- Partnership for a New Generation Vehicle: A partnership with
US auto manufacturers, suppliers, universities, and high-technology
companies aimed at vehicle and manufacturing technology that will ensure
technological leadership for US producers and triple fuel efficiency
within ten years. (FY96 interagency funding $333M)
- Construction and Buildings: A partnership with US
construction firms and suppliers aimed at increasing the quality and
lowering the cost of homes and commercial buildings using improved materials, design and production techniques, and components.

- Physical Infrastructure for Transportation: A partnership
involving major construction firms and their suppliers designed to
improve the quality and lower the cost of building and maintaining the
nation's bridges, highways, airports, ports, railways and other key
infrastructures using advanced materials and construction practices.
