The Grand Foyer and Cross Hall are trimmed with eight
cone-shaped tress fashioned by designer Robert Isabell. The
magnificent tress are decorated with fruit, hydrangea and rich
burgundy ribbons to create a warm and elegant look for this welcoming
foyer. Pier tables in the Cross Hall also highlight art from the
White House Collection of American Crafts. The pier table on the
landing of the Grand Staircase showcases a vignette of ornaments made
by architects and architectural students for our 1995 theme, 'Twas
the Night Before Christmas.

The pier table in the Grand Foyer reflects our 1994 theme, The
Twelve Days of Christmas, with whimsical ornaments made by
students from art schools and universities around the country. The
wooden ornaments were created and designed by members of the Society
of Decorative Painters. Before departing the Grand Foyer, you might
want to steal a kiss from a loved one below the mistletoe that hangs
from this year's kissing ball, which was designed, painted and
stitched by Hyla Hurley and Gail Hendrix of Washington, DC, to portray
each of our past holiday themes.
