PRESIDENT CLINTON'S INITIATIVE ON RACE
"CAMPUS WEEK OF DIALOGUE"

(Washington, D.C.) -- During the week of April 6-9, 1998, Advisory Board members to the President's Initiative on Race and Cabinet Secretaries, including Education Secretary Richard Riley, Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt, and Attorney General Janet Reno, will participate in campus events around the country in a nationwide effort to encourage dialogues on race. The month of April 1998 has been designated by the President's Initiative on Race as a month of dialogue. More than 500 hundred schools, with every state in the nation represented, will sponsor town hall meetings and other public forums on race during the month of April.

The following events will highlight the week's activities. A list of additional events are attached.

The President's Race Initiative requests that colleges and universities participating in this national week of dialogue provide concrete outcomes and feedback with the Initiative to be shared with the President. Following the conclusion of the work of the Initiative, President Clinton will issue a report to the American people.
