PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES WILLIE GRACE CAMPBELL AS A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF
DIRECTORS OF THE AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION
The President today announced his intent to nominate Willie Grace
Campbell as a member of the Board of Directors of the African Development
Foundation.
Ms. Willie Grace Campbell, of Los Angeles, California, has been
vice chair and member of the African Development Foundation since 1993. As
vice chair, Ms. Campbell has been an advisor on the Project Development
Committee, and she has worked on women?s issues and trade and investment
strategies. Ms. Campbell is also the founder and a board member of Women,
Law and Development, International, which is an international organization
whose board is committed to the defense and promotion of women?s rights
globally. Ms. Campbell is also a member of the Overseas Development
Council and a board member of the Women?s Foreign Policy Group.
Ms. Campbell received an A.B. in American History from the University
of Cincinnati and an M.A. in Sociology from the University of Michigan.
The African Development Foundation is an independent, non-profit,
government corporation that provides self-help initiatives to the poor
populations of Africa. The Foundation works to strengthen friendship and
understanding between the people of Africa and the United States and
supports local African activities that increase opportunities for community
development.
