 PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES TOM C. KOROLOGOS AND ROBERT M. LEDBETTER, JR., AS
              MEMBERS OF THE BROADCASTING BOARD OF GOVERNORS

     The President today announced the nomination of Tom C. Korologos and
Robert M. Ledbetter, Jr., as members of the Broadcasting Board of
Governors.

     Mr. Tom C. Korologos, of Arlington, Virginia, currently serves as a
member of the Broadcasting Board of Governors. Mr. Korologos is the
co-founder and President of the Timmons and Company consulting firm.  From
1991 to 1994, he was a member and Chairman of the Advisory Commission on
Public Diplomacy. At Columbia University, he was the recipient of the
Greenland Rice Fellowship and a Pulitzer Fellowship.  In 1988, he was named
as a Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Utah.  Mr. Korologos
received a B.A. from the University of Utah and a M.S. from Columbia
University Graduate School of Journalism.

     Mr. Robert M. Ledbetter, Jr., of Tupelo, Mississippi, has served on
the Board of Directors for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Mississippi since
1995.  Mr. Ledbetter has also served as the Vice President and General
Manager of WTVA TV in Tupelo, Mississippi, since 1977.  He also served on
the Board of Directors and was past chairman for the Community Development
Foundation of Tupelo, Mississippi.  Mr. Ledbetter is a graduate of
Mississippi College.

     The Broadcasting Board of Governors was created by the Board of
International Broadcasting Act of 1994.  The Board supervises all United
States-funded non-military international broadcasting entities.  These
include Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Voice of America, Radio and
Television Marti, and Radio Free Asia.  Currently established within the
United States Information Agency (USIA), the Board became an independent
federal agency in October 1999.
