MAZUR AS ADMINISTRATOR OF THE ENERGY INFORMATION ADMINISTRATION The President today announced his intent to nominate Mark J. Mazur to serve as Administrator of the Energy Information Administration. Dr. Mark J. Mazur, of Silver Spring, Maryland, is currently serving as the Acting Administrator of the Energy Information Administration. Previously, he held positions at the Department of Energy as Director of the Office of Policy, Chief Economist, and Senior Policy Advisor to the Secretary of Energy. In addition, he served as Senior Director at the White House's National Economic Council from 1995 to 1997 and Senior Staff Economist in Public Finance at the Council of Economic Advisors from 1993 to 1995. Dr. Mazur received a B.A. degree in Finance from Michigan State University and a M.A. degree in Economics and Ph.D. degree in Business from Stanford University. The Administrator of the Energy Information Administration (EIA) provides policy-independent data, forecasts, and analyses to promote sound policy-making, efficient markets, and public understanding regarding energy and its interaction with the economy and the environment. The Administrator is primarily responsible for coordinating various energy disciplines to develop energy data and analyses that helps to enhance the understanding of energy issues on the part of business, government, and the general public. 30-30-30
