Statement by the Press Secretary: Working Visit of President and Prime Minister of Croatia (7/27/00)

July 27, 2000


     At the invitation of President Clinton, President Stjepan Mesic and
Prime Minister Ivica Racan of the Republic of Croatia will travel to
Washington for a Working Visit on August 9.  President Mesic and Prime
Minister Racan will meet with the President and other senior Administration
officials to discuss a broad range of bilateral and regional issues.  We
see this visit as an important step in strengthening the growing
cooperation between the United States and the Republic of Croatia in the
wake of that country?s democratic transition.
