PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES PETER A. SELIGMANN AS MEMBER OF THE ENTERPRISE FOR
                            THE AMERICAS BOARD


     President Clinton today announced his intent to appoint Peter A.
Seligmann as a member of the Enterprise for the Americas Board.

     Mr. Peter A. Seligmann, of Washington, D.C., has served as Chairman
and Chief Executive Officer of Conservation International since 1989.  He
currently serves on several corporate boards as well as on the advisory
councils of the Jackson Hole Land Trust, Ecotrust and other non-profit
organizations, including the Japanese Keidanren's Nature Conservation Fund.

     Mr. Seligmann received a B.S. degree from Rutgers University and a
M.S. degree from Yale University School of Forestry and Environmental
Science.

     The Enterprise for the Americas Board seeks to improve the lives of
Latin American and Caribbean children and adults through community-based
conservation and sustainable use of the environment.  The program uses
funds in eligible countries for various local environmental projects and
Board members oversee the activities of grant-making Boards within each
participating country.
