President's Trip to Europe 1999

President Clinton will visit Istanbul, Turkey from November 15-19 to attend a summit meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The OSCE summit is an opportunity for leaders of 54 countries throughout the Euro-Atlantic region to focus on promoting democracy, human rights, security and stability among and within participating states.

The President also will make state visits to Greece on November 20, and to Bulgaria on November 22. He will travel to Italy to attend a conference hosted by Prime Minister D'Alema on “Progressive Governance for the 21st Century” from November 20-21, and will conclude his trip with a visit to Kosovo on November 23.
