Media Task Force At the White House Conference on Teenagers, the First Lady announced creation of a New Media Task Force, a public-private effort to provide tools to parents and teens for navigating the new media and for guidance in monitoring its' use. The task force plans to complete its work over the next six months and will:
For the Conference itself, the First Lady challenged the Entertainment Industry to develop a one-stop website for parents to learn more about how to monitor their children's interaction with the media. This parental media guide gives parents more and better information about how to use the current media rating systems, including those voluntarily put in place by the movie, television, music and computer/video game industries. Members of the New Media Task Force currently include the Center for Media Education, the American Psychological Association, America's Promise, the Children's Defense Fund, the National Network for Youth, the United Way of America, and GetNetWise. |
