To promote HIV/AIDS awareness through training and other service activities.

Encourage all AmeriCorps programs to provide training in HIV/AIDS to AmeriCorps members and encourage them to become involved in HIV/AIDS service activities.

Examples of AmeriCorps programs focusing on AIDS: The National AIDS Fund and the Birmingham AIDS Outreach Program.

Persons living with HIV and AIDS and AmeriCorps Members. Constituency Involved: AmeriCorps Members and the public at large.

1. Through the Foster Grandparent program, provide foster and respite care, as well as counseling and living assistance for children with HIV/AIDS.
2. Through the Senior Companion Program, provide some persons living with HIV and AIDS with volunteers for respite care and living assistance.
3. Continue to provide some persons living with HIV and AIDS with health and nutrition services and respite care from the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.
