The Commerce Branch within the Office of Management and Budget is a unit of seven professionals who work on budget and policy matters associated with the programs of the Department of Commerce (DOC) and related small agencies, including the Federal Communications Commission, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), and the National Archives.

We have two job openings for program examiners and are interested in both temporary assignments (including Presidential Management Intern rotations) as well as permanent hires:

One position focuses on DOC's Economic Development Administration (EDA) and International Trade Administration (ITA). EDA helps fund development projects throughout the country; ITA activities include trade promotion, compliance, and negotiations. The individual would also work on the ARC and other regional development issues.

The second position involves the programs of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). NOAA is a large bureau with a variety of environmental, weather service, and satellite activities.

Commerce also has technology, census, and telecommunications programs, and our staff has the opportunity to learn about a number of interesting areas. We currently have a permanent vacancy posting for GS-11 through GS-14 candidates. A later posting is expected to include GS-9 candidates. Interested candidates should e-mail rlyon@omb.eop.gov. Resumes can be faxed to 202-395-1150.
