Department of Labor

DEPARTMENT OF LABOR
The U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL)provides labor market transition assistance to South Africa through a four-year program funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development. USDOL's projects address the areas of employment equity (affirmative action), occupational safety and health, labor market statistics, and labor market research. In addition, USDOL's Mine Safety and Health Administration regularly exchanges information on technology, policy, and programs with partners involved in South Africa's mining industry. USDOL's Child Labor Group is currently working with the International Labor Organization (ILO)'s International Programme for the Elimination of Child Labor (IPEC) to fund a South African Ministry of Labor study on child labor in South Africa. The Department's web page also contains updates from fact-finding trips to South Africa by USDOL officials.
