President Clinton Names Joe Adams to the President's Advisory Committee on the Arts of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (8/2/00) Office of the Press Secretary The President announced today his intention to appoint Joe C. Adams to the President's Advisory Committee on the Arts of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Mr. Joe C. Adams, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, is President of Adams et. al., Inc., a management and financial advisory services firm, and of America, Oh, Yes!, a group specializing in American Folk Art and African-American fine art. He also is the owner of art galleries in Washington, D.C. and Hilton Head, South Carolina. Additionally, he is a founding sponsor of the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, patron member of the Folk Art Society of America and the American Museum of Folk Art. From 1968 to 1993, he headed the Adams Group, a Washington, D.C. advertising and public relations firm. He is also the author of How to Survive and Thrive During Uncertain Economic Times. He has a degree in Public Relations and Journalism from the University of Maryland. The President's Advisory Committee on the Arts of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts advises and consults with the Board of Trustees for the Center, and makes recommendations to the Board regarding existing and prospective cultural activities to be featured at the center. In addition, the members of the Committee assist in the Center's fundraising efforts and act as liaisons to performance groups and performing arts centers throughout the nation. 30-30-30
