In the President's weekly Radio Address:

The President announces he will lead participation in the Presidents, Summit on Service, April 27th through 29th, at Independence Hall in Philadelphia.

The President designates the week of April 13-19 as National Service Week -- with over a million young people participating in 3,000 events across our nation, and thousands of AmeriCorps alumni and returned Peace Corps volunteers reaching out to youth in their communities.

The President challenges every state to make service a part of high school and middle school education, following the example of Maryland.

The President announces the launching of his National Service Scholarships, making students who have performed outstanding service eligible for $1,000 college scholarships ($500 from the national government matched by local communities and civic groups).
