Thanks to Clinton-Gore Administration reforms, the Medicare Trustees reported in March 1999 that the life of the Medicare Trust Fund had been extended until 2015.

- Two million children have already been enrolled in CHIP.
- In October 1999 President Clinton announced new outreach initiatives to enroll millions more uninsured, eligible children.
Fought for and Signed Meaningful Health Insurance Reform - In 1996, President Clinton signed the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act which limits exclusions for pre-existing conditions, makes coverage portable and helps individuals who lose jobs maintain coverage. As many as 25 million people will benefit from this law.

- The Clinton-Gore Administration implemented a new science-based inspection system -- Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points -- and reduced the prevalence of salmonella in raw meat and poultry by as much as 50 percent. The President has issued new rules to prevent foodborne illness such as E.coli.
- The President signed the Food Quality Protection Act, which included special safeguards for kids and strengthened laws governing pesticides and food safety.
