|ceans sustain nearly half of all life on Earth and provide us with many vital resources. They are a source of energy, food, commerce, medicine, and recreation. They shape our weather, link us to other nations, and are critical to national security. In the 21st Century, we will look increasingly to the oceans to meet our everyday needs. In recognition of the importance the oceans play in our lives, President Clinton and Vice President Gore will attend the National Ocean Conference in Monterey, California. The two-day conference will examine the opportunities and challenges we face to restore our irreplaceable ocean resources. |
ncluded in the conference program will be two cybercasts -- the Vice President's moderation of a plenary session on Thursday, at 4:30 p.m. (EDT), and the President's remarks to the Conference on Friday, at 12:30 p.m. (EDT). To learn more about the Ocean Conference or access the cybercasts, please visit the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) web site.
