Shawsville Middle School's Extended-Day Program
will focus on helping students meet state standards in core curricular areas;
providing enrichment activities in arts, culture, recreation, technology, and
career exploration; and reduce opportunities for violence, substance abuse and
other negative behavior. Partners include the Department of Parks and Recreation,
the Library, Radford University, and the County Sheriff's Office.
PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS, FARMVILLE

The Southside Virginia Community Summer Reading
Camp is being established by the public school districts in Buckingham,
Cumberland, and Prince Edward Counties and 12 community agencies to provide
educational, recreational, and cultural activities for some 600 children in
grades 1-8. The instruction will focus on reading, mathematics, and science.
