The office advises the National Security Advisor and the President on
a broad range of issues, including U.S. policy toward the United Nations
(including UN peacekeeping); planning and response to complex humanitarian
crises; U.S. humanitarian assistance policy; international migration and
refugee issues; sanctions policy; and international human rights and
democracy promotion.
