Steps

- Assess
neuropsychiatric/psychosocial aspects of HIV/AIDS to prevent the spread
of HIV infection.
- Establish
linkages with health care providers. Include alcohol and other drug
(AOD) related HIV prevention in all training curriculums.
- Train
mental health professionals who serve people with serious mental illness.
- Provide
training about pre- and post- HIV antibody counseling and testing, physiological
aspects of HIV/AIDS, in addition to culturally sensitive, linguistically
and gender appropriate interventions and methodologies.
- Address
managed care and training issues.
- Evaluate
the effectiveness of training techniques.
