William Faulkner's speech upon receiving the Nobel Prize for Literature
"I should like to nominate the brief address by William Faulkner upon
receiving the Nobel Prize for Literature on December 10, 1950...the last
paragraph alone would make a fitting statement to celebrate the struggles
and endurance of men and women over this past thousand years...The text of
the address was first printed in the New York Herald Tribune, Jan. 14,
